I am back in all my Meezer Glory! I did not mean to be gone so long; however, Mommy has been in a funk and was on sabbatical for over six months!

With that being said my Meezer rule is as follows:

If Mommy is not doing that great, it is important to be a nurse to her and to get all the cuddly-wuddly time possible.

This past weekend Mommy and Daddy allowed a friend of theirs to leave Jackson in our back yard. I need to mention this… Jackson is a WOOFIE!! I don’t like other critters in MY territory much less a woofie for crying out loud!!! I was not happy. Not one single bit.

I loves Easter!! I loves the flowers, Easter baskets, the eggies and the left over prime rib Mommy brought home for my special treat! But what was bestest about this Easter was that Daddy finally came home!! Daddy drove to Las Vegas on 2/19 and has not been home since. However, Daddy’s boss called him Friday morning and asked Daddy if he had a dog (how rude!)…. Daddy told him “no, you know we have Scout the Meezer”… Daddy’s boss said “that’s good, because if you did he would probably bite you since you’ve been gone over a month. You are booked on the 7:00 flight out. Now go see your wife.”

He is already back at the airport to return to Vegas for what Mommy hopes is just a few more days.

Daddy was gone so long that Mommy cried when she saw him. I for one ignored him until last night. How dare he leave us for so long? I forgave him though and all is well. I slept on top of him last night to try and keep him home with us where he belongs; however, he outweighs me by about 200 pounds so I lost that battle.

The weather in Tennessee is wacky…. Yesterday was WINDY!!! Like 30 mph winds! Mommy said it blew her car around when she was driving home from work. But at least it was in the 70’s. So since it was warmer she opened up the bonus room window when she got home. She always opens it high enough for me to see out of when I sit on the window seat. She calls it “Cat TV” because I will sit and watch children play and cars go by, you get the picture… Well since it was soooo windy yesterday she only opened it a little bit because it was blowing hard outside. That was disappointing to me ‘cause I really wanted to watch the show going on outdoors. To show my displeasure I did something… That something is my rule du jour….

If the window is not opened to your exact specifications, it is okay to howl and paw at the wood blinds until you pull them down. This will let Mommy know you are not pleased.

Bonus rule: Once you have accomplished this run like the wind from the loud noise this has occurred.

I am still bored.... I am a bit disturbed that Mommy is back at work and not spending all her time with me. It is bothersome that I am left home alone without companionship. Life isn't fair!!!

So to pay her back, I went on a little whapping spree...

Mommy collects little enamel teapots. They are all over her dresser (where I am *not supposed to be*) and are perfect for whapping!!! And boy oh boy can those suckers FLY!!! Added bonus, since they are enamel, they make a nice sound when they slam into something!

That'll teach her!

I don’t like crumbles in my crunchy bowl. Not one single bit! I refuse to eat them. Instead I scoot them onto the floor with my nose and leave them scattered making a big mess in the process.

Dog house part deux

Mommy is not too happy with me…. Again….

Here’s what happened….

Last night Mommy woke up around 12:30a because she realized she had not talked to Daddy (he’s on a business trip). Daddy is currently two hours behind so Mommy knew it would be okay to call. After chatting with him for a few minutes she hung up to go back to sleep. That’s when it happened….

I decided to play attack the blankie monster…. I don’t usually play this game in the dark because I generally prefer to stay curled up next to Mommy and blissfully snooze the night away; however, last night was different. I played for about 10 minutes which was more than enough to really shake all the cob webbies out of Mommy’s brain and really wake her up good! I should be proud but I am ashamed because after the game was over, I curled up for the night and Mommy was still awake at 2:30a this morning tossing and turning. And as you aware, she just went back to work Monday for the first time in 2 ½ weeks after having mono. She was not a happy camper when the alarm went off at 5:30a this morning.

Usually I run into the bathroom with her and chat while she showers but not today. Today I snuck out of the room and hid in shame.

Mommy occasionally calls me the evil Siamese because sometimes I am bad.

I am somewhere I am *not supposed to be* and I got busted! I was in the Bubbie's room investigating because the door was slightly ajar. Usually it is closed even when he is here so I won't furry up his stuff. But there was an opportunity and I took full advantage of it!! How was I supposed to know Mommy was lurking down the hall with the camera in her hands?!

Oh, if you biggify the picture and look at the photo to the left of me, you can see a picture of Mommy on her first birthday. Grandpapa is giving her a birthday smooch. Mommy looks so young and tiny there. It is hard to believe that she is turning 42 in 25 days.

I am getting in as much Mommy time as possible because the doctor finally is letting her go back to work after her long bout of mono. It sure is going to be different around here without her to lay on and nap with! It kinda makes me a little sad. I have gotten very used to sitting on her lap while she is on the computer and laying in her arms if she is watching TV. I have been the center of her attention the whole time she has been home and I LOVE IT!!!! That is as it should be.

I worry about her going back to work because she has explained to me that she will probably be extremely tired and will come home, have dinner and go to bed. What about me?!!?!!?!??!! Will I get the necessary skritches?! Will there be play time?!

Sigh, what's a meezer to do? That is why I am staying curled up on her. Maybe that way she will not go back at all and we can spend plenty of Mommy and Scouty time together. But then again, getting green papers is important to keep me in the style I am accustomed....

For Valentine's Day, I sent my sweetie a package which included a catnip cigar. Being a curious Meezer I HAD TO inspect all things going into the box to Henry. I liked everything in it because it was paw-picked by me but I really was groovin on the nip cigar. Mommy even debated about letting me keep it because I was a smitten kitten.

But I knew Henry was worth it so into the box it went.

A couple of days ago Mommy went to buy my crunchies and picked up a cigar for my very own! She told me she had a treat for me for being such a good nurse to her since she is still so sick with mono. I was laying on my favoritist spot on the couch when she put it next to me. I hissed at it! I am not normally a hissy kitty unless there is another kitty in my territory; however, I hissed at the treat Mommy brought me! Then I whapped it good and hard and ran off to recover.

I still won't go near it. Mommy says I am crazy.

After getting into trouble, I think I am out of the proverbial dog house (thank goodness cuz it is for a dog you know, not a Meezer). I behaved all day today. Mommy says I was a "good girl" and deserved another tuna treat!!!

Maybe the uterus dance is not all I thought it was... I think I will save my moves for happy dances instead of getting launched from the bed. The tuna was DEFINITELY worth it!!!

Mommy is back down for the count again. She is back at home with me laying around and napping. I think she overdid things and now I have her back on the bed and couch with me. I have been renamed "Nurse Scouty". My duties include laying on Mommy, getting skritched, and snoozing when she does.

Mommy says my duties DO NOT INCLUDE playing thundering herds of elephants, attacking feet under the blankies, bunny kicking her when I want her to continue or stop skritching, and whapping her head.

Hmph! I will need to figure out if this is in my contract as the Meezer house cat! Stay tuned... I am sure there will be more drama from my Mama...

Hmpf! Mommy is a tad bit upset with me for something that happened last night…. Here is what happened…

Daddy had tucked Mommy and me into bed. It was around 10:00p. Mommy was tuckered out from her second day back at work since February 5th. Daddy still had some things to do around the house so he shut us into the room. I did my usual walk-a-about the room and then jumped up on Mommy for a skritch session and then we would both snooze the night away. According to Mommy, as soon as she drifted off something bad happened….

I swear I did not do it on purpose… But when ya gotta yak, ya gotta yak…. So what if it was on the duvet? It can go in the wash! Aren’t I more important? Well Mommy said it scared the “bejeebers” out of her and then I got launched from the bed while Mommy stripped things off and threw them in the wash. It wasn’t that much yak and I should not have been treated as such! I tried to do it quietly so I did not wake her up but you know Meezers are not exactly silent even when it comes to yakking.

Mommy is still very sick with mono. The doctor has made her stay home since February 6th. She can not go back to work until the 18th. I am both happy and sad that Mommy is home. Happy because I can snuggle with her while she rests and sad because there may not be enough green papers to keep me in the style I am accustomed to....

My rule for today is this....

Snuggle with your Mommy for all you are worth. Healing purrs are the bestest medicine!

Here are 13 things I have learned since Mommy got mono...

1. She sleeps about 12-18 hours a day. Not the Meezer requird 22.
2. She does not appreciate having her feet attacked under the covers.
3. Playing thundering herds of elephants on the bed will get you kicked out the room.
4. Daddy is not as good as Mommy at keeping cubies in the water.
5. Whapping her head gets you yelled at.
6. Changing positions every 2 minutes gets you yelled at.
7. Snuggling and quietly purring get you petted which is better than being yelled at.
8. If you make enough biscuits in Mommy's hair she begins to resemble Don King.
9. Mistakenly drinking Gatorade for you what think is water is icky!
10. Bonus! There is no alarm clock to wake you up bright and early.
11. Daddy and my grandparents will both call a squillion times to see if Mommy is okay. This makes Mommy grumpy.
12. When Mommy gets the night sweats she will throw the heavy blankie on me and I have climb out.
13. Mommy won't play with me and that makes me sad.

Happy Meezer Rule Wednesday!

I like to sleep with Mommy. I like to be petted until I fall sound asleep. I also like to wrap my paws (front and back) around Mommy’s arm and cradle my head in her hand as I start to drift off to dreamland. If Mommy stops petting before I am sleep there is hell to pay!

My rule for today is: It is okay to give the bitey and dig your claws in “ever so gently” to let Mommy know that you are not done being skritched or rubbed.

Aside from falling for Henry, I also have another love... No, it is not another kitty, it is my my FURminator. It rocks my little world and my furrs are all the prettier for it.

Lastly, my Mommy is sick. She is really down over it. If you get a chance go visit her and send healing purrs her way. I know she would appreciate it. I know part of the reason she is so tired is because she usually only sleeps 8 hours a day. Who can survive on less than 22 hours I ask you?

It is Meezer Monday and I really do not have that much to say because Mommy is feeling badly and can not really help me much today.

I have been telling “tails” of those who came before me and I hope to have a really good one for you next week!

I also wanna tell my PAWSOME boyfriend, Henry, that it was so wonderful to have you hear while the Lady and Senor got hitched. I loved snuggle time and having niptinis with you!

Furminator!!

Oh my cat!! Mommy went shopping last night and got the greatest thing for me! She got me a Furminator. Let me tell you what, it rocked my little world to say the very least!

She opened the package and she began to brush my furs. I danced, I sang, I did loop-de-loops of joy…. It was pawsome! She did this for me about 3 or 4 minutes and there was a HUMONGOUS pile of what Mommy refers to as “cat yuckies” (also known as loose Scouty furs). She compacted it all up and I kid you not, it was the size of a grapefruit! Of course I had to sniff it bunchies before she threw it away (how rude!). But I felt lighter. I probably lost a pound of furs and it felt soooo yumilicious to have that brushy on my furs!

Mommy said she was glad I liked it sooo much because it was not cheap. But she said it was worth every penny for all the furs she brushed off of me. Remember, it is not just for cats with long furs because my coat is fairly short. It was heavenly!

I like water with cubies. I will drink it without them; however, I prefer cubies. Mommy drinks her water with bunches of cubies. My bowl is downstairs but Mommy’s large cup is wherever Mommy may be. I like to be wherever Mommy is….

My rule for today is since you know I like my water the same way as you do, you have to share. It is my house and if I can fit my head in your glass you need to get over it.

The very lovely young Phoebe tagged me for a meme. It is seven random things about me. So without further adieu, here you go....

1. I love the smell of bacon and sausage but I won’t eat it.
2. I have not ridden in a car since December 2003. I am horrified of cars!!
3. I once got scared because a lightening bug landed on me. Mommy said I bucked like a bronco trying to get it off. She had to get it off of me and "liberate" it to outside.
4. I like it when Mommy holds me up so I can sniff things I can not reach on my own like photos on the walls. We can do this for several minutes before Mommy says I am too heavy (hmph!).
5. The only cruchies I will eat is Science Diet.
6. I have to have conversations with Mommy as soon as she comes home from work. Even if Daddy gets home first I have to tell Mommy all about my day. We do this for quite a bit and then I get skritches and brushed!
7. My little brother Boo Radley died in 2003. I will go sit on where he is buried in the backyard. I go to visit.

I would tag my boyfriend but since he is staying with me for a bit, I can just ask him myself. So I am tagging Dr. Tweety, Sam, Sabrina and Simon, Pyewacket and Yao-Lin.

Here is another “tail” of one who came before me….

When Mommy was just learning to walk she had a kitty named Kiki George. He was orange and floofy.

Mommy said when little beans are first learning to walk that they hold onto things. Mommy said she was no exception to that rule. Grandmama had to jump and tell the rest of the story because it was about 40 years ago that this happened….

Grandmama said Mommy was learning to walk and would teeter down the long hall way holding on to the wall for support as needed. Well Grandmama said she heard Mommy let out a blood-curdling scream of “no Kiki”!!!! Grandmama went running and there was Kiki George all curled up asleep in the hallway far from where Mommy was. Mommy told Grandmama that Kiki was after her, but there he was curled up like a little angel kitty. Grandmama told Mommy to stop it. A few minutes later it happened again… Screams of “no Kiki”!! Then Grandmama telling Mommy to stop it because Kiki George was curled up asleep. This went on a few more times and finally Grandmama thought she would sneak over and try and see what was going on.

Seems that Mommy wasn’t kidding…. As soon as Grandmama would walk away, Kiki George would rear up on his hind legs and be face to face with Mommy and chase her! That is why Mommy would scream!!! When Grandmama saw this she was not sure what to make of it. First it made her laugh out loud and then she yelled “Kiki, no”!! Kiki George knew he was busted then and snuck off with his tail between his legs….

Grandmama said it was hysterical because Kiki George almost got away with it…..

Fraidy Cat Five on Friday

Mommy sez that I suffer from neurosis. I wasn’t sure what that meant so I looked it up… I like being able to see things by looking them up online.

Neurosis: a mental and emotional disorder that affects only part of the personality, is accompanied by a less distorted perception of reality than in a psychosis, does not result in disturbance of the use of language, and is accompanied by various physical, physiological, and mental disturbances (as visceral symptoms, anxieties, or phobias)

So my five on Friday are five things that I am scared of (but Mommy sez I am “neurotic” about)…

1. Plastic bags…. They are evil!!! When Mommy or Daddy come home with groceries I run like the wind!! When they change the trash bags and they have to open a new one, I am no where to be found. If I could I would rid the world of horrible plastic bags!
2. Aluminum foil…. I don’t like the noise it makes; however I mostly do not like it because it is shiny. It reminds me of the awful table at the V-E-T’s office. Nuff said….
3. Thunder boomers… I am really skairty over these! I have to either be curled up tight in Mommy’s lap, under the bed or in the back of the closet. I choose the place depending upon where I am when the thunder boomers start! If at all possible I prefer to be in Mommy’s lap! She cuddles me and tells me she will protected me.
4. The doorbell…. I can not begin to explain why this scares me! I can be downstairs laying by the cozy fire and someone will ring the bell and I have to bolt upstairs as fast as my leggies will carry me!
5. Closed doors…. Okay, this one is completely crazy, and I would not zactly call it “scared”; however, if a door is shut to a room (especially Mommy’s bedroom) and I am not in the room with Mommy I will not just scratch at it, I will body slam it!! Daddy watched me one time and said I got a running head start and hurled myself at it while meowing the whole time!! Mommy could not hear me because she was in the shower. Daddy had to carry me in so I could see her and I was so happy that I was in the room with Mommy!!

I was so excited yesterday! It was a pawsome day!! Henry Helton asked me to be his girlfriend and I said YES!! I am such a happy girl! I still can’t quit purring!

I am also glad that today is Meezer Rule day. It is my 10th rule so far. Let me set it up for you…

When I am excited I do crazy things like meow loudly and frequently. I also like to play thundering herds of elephants when I am happy. Mommy says one kitty running amuck does not equal a “herds” of elephants…. That bothered me cuz the game is called thundering herds of elephants and I am an only kitty so I can’t help it if no one else plays it with me…. So my rule for today is as follows:

If someone says something about you that you do not like nor appreciate, please give them your best death ray stare with laser beam eyes.

Mommy wishes she could download the photo she took of me last night; however, she gotted a new camera for Christmas and can not download the thing…

UPDATE: Oh my cat!! I just realized that this is my 100th post! Dangnabbit, I wish I would have realized that before so I could have had a cool contest!

Here is another “tail” of one who came before me…

It is once again about Judina. Judina liked tomatoes…. A lot as a matter of fact…. Everytime Grandmama would cook something with tomato sauce in it she would put the empty can of tomato sauce on the ground for Judina. Judina would take her paw and swipe the inside of the can and then lick her paw clean. She would keep doing it until all the tomato sauce was gone and the can was sparkly clean. Then she would clean her paws like a crazy woman and make certain all the tomato sauce is gone from all her furs.

Grandmama told this story to Mommy (because Mommy was too young to remember ).

I think Judina would have gotten along with Boo Radley since they both liked to help in the kitchen.

On a separate note, Mommy and I are very relieved that Mao came home from his walk-about. We were furry worried!

After a L-O-N-G three week blogging break (Mommy’s choice, not mine) I am back…. My ears are clean and tidy (unlike my litter box) and the bowl is full of crunchies and I am ready to visit all my bloggy friends and get back to bizness…

Mommy and Daddy have a funny thing they say about me… When they brush my furs, they take my beautiful collar off of me and tell me I am “off duty”. That means I do not have my ‘normal’ obligations as house cat, you know, like protecting my territory…

My rule for today is whether you are “on duty” or “off duty” you can do as you please. It is your right as a cat. You can play thundering herd of elephants, you can whap, whap, whap to your heart’s content, you can do the Halloween cat jump at the wall, you can walk around meowing at the top of your lungs, you can put the bitey on anything (or anyone for that matter), you can boob walk (or at my house I do what Mommy calls the “uterus dance”)… You name it, you can it do. You are a Meezer and you rule!

Today for Meezer rule day I would like to discuss ribbons and bows. Yes, they are there to make the package pretty. I know that.

My rule for the day is this: If you do not want me to chew on the ribbons and bows, then put the presents out of reach for me. If you lay them on the ground under the tree they are fair game and, as a house cat I simply MUST chew them to add my own decorative touch.

Wowser! I can not believe that today is my 8th Gotchaversary!!! That means I have been with Mommy for 8 years or 96 months or 416 weeks or 2935 days! I came to my furrever home December 18, 1999! Zowie that is bunches and I have loved every minute of it!! Okay, every minute except any car trips or V-E-T visits, or when we moved into the new house, but that is a different story for another time.

I think I will tells you the story about how Mommy and me came to be a family…. It started with a tragedy. On December 13, 1999, Mommy had to have Pookie put down because unbeknownst to her, he was in the final stages of renal failure. Mommy was distraught and very, very sad. She held Pookie as he took his final breath and lovingly buried him in the back yard of her parents’ home. She bought a St. Francis statue to be his grave marker that has a small bird feeder attached. That way he would always have the birdies he loved so much near him. Mommy told me she missed Pookie something fierce and that her heart was breaking. She did not think she wanted another kitty.

But on December 18th, something made her decide to go to the humane society. She went and visited all the kitties who needed a furrever home. She played with them, snuggled and gave them skritches. She decided then that she needed a new kitty to love. She did not care if it was a kitten or an older kitty. She said she just knew that she had a lot of kitty love to give and a warm, cozy home with toys, food, water, affection and attention. But to Mommy’s disappointment she could not decide on a kitty and none of them “picked” her either. She was about to leave when the office manager came to speak to her.

Mommy told the office manager the story of Pookie. She then led Mommy into her office. There on the bulletin board was a photo of Pookie!! Along with it was a copy of his last will and testament where he left his estate to the humane society for kitties less fortunate than he had been. Mommy cried over that. But the office manager had another surprise in store for her. She wanted to introduce her to a kitty that was found in the Hermitage/Mt. Juliet area on December 13th (the day Pookie died). Mommy was a little taken aback because she lived in that area at the time. So the office manager went and fetched a 6 month old Meezer that they were going to keep as the office pet. The office staff had named this Meezer Precious. Well Precious just climbed up on Mommy’s lap, lifted her nose to Mommy’s ear and would not quit purring! Mommy got picked by a kitty!! It was love at first sight for all involved! Mommy paid the adoption fee and off we went…

Yes, I was once a humane society stray named Precious. Now I am a bonafide, certified house cat named Scout. My name comes from Mommy’s favorite book “To Kill a Mockingbird”. I did not know that there was a guide book for kitties that taught you how to do that, I just thought it was instinct!

So that is my Gotchaversary story of how I came to be Mommy’s evil Siamese. I am happy in my furrever home and I loves my Mommy and Daddy very much! I am pampered, petted, groomed, fed, spoiled, but mostly I am loved a whole, whole lot!!

Mommy’s note: Scouty, I am so glad that we belong to each other! You have been a joy and are a great kiki. You always make me feel happy when you head butt, snuggle, purr, knead and love on me. You have excellent kitty communication skills and are always willing to chat with me. I enjoy that you are a lap kitty and like to beach yourself on me when I am sitting at the desk or in my chair. I get happy when we get ready for bed each night and go through our evening ritual of tucking one another in. I am proud to be your Mommy! I love you!

Here is another “tail” of those who came before me…..

Mommy had a kitty that was a seal point Himalayan named Pookie. According to her he was not too bright but was a sweet, lovable boy. Pookie had several interests with one of the oddest being his affinity for smelly candles. He adored them and, when not burning, would nuzzle up to them and sniff away. He wasn’t too particular about scents either. He was equal opportunity.

Well one time Mommy lit a bunch of balsam pine scented candles around Christmas time. She did this as she was chatting away with a friend on the phone whom she had not spoken to in quite some time. Once Pookie realized there were smell candles available for the sniffing, he bolted up onto the counter where they were. That is when Mama heard a funny sizzling sound and then smelled that awful smell of burning hair! Pookie’s right set of whiskers (both by his nose and his “eyebrows”) were beginning to curl! He jumped down and began to run. Mommy told her friend (and I quote) “I have to go. My cat is on fire” and hung up the phone! She started up the stairs after Pookie who was sitting by his water bowl panting. He was a little singed around the rough of his fur but otherwise okay. Mommy had to do a little trimming to get the crispy parts of the fur away.

Mommy said the irony of the story is that this was not the first, nor the second but the THIRD time Pookie had done that! Pookie went over the bridge 8 years ago this week. I would have liked to have met my big brother the "pyromaniac".

fifteen on friday

Today I should like to tell you fifteen things I like about this time of year. Before I do, I want to effury kitty Merry Christmas!! I know it is early, but I wanted to makes sure I got that message out to you all!

1. The boxes under the tree make purrfect places to relax.
2. The bows are fun to shred and chew!
3. Those shiny balls on the tree are fun to WHAP, WHAP, WHAP! Even when Mommy says “Stop it, Scout”.
4. There is a stocking over the fireplace with MY NAME on it! That means I will get temtayshuns or something else good just for me!
5. Mommy does extra cooking this time of year and there is always something tasty for me to nibble. She says I am her sous chef and taste-tester. That makes me happy!
6. Mommy has nice smelly candles burning and I likes that!
7. Mommy puts electric candles in the windows and I get to sit by them.
8. There is a funny little dressed up man sitting by the fireplace and I can talk to him all I want. Mommy says he is a nutcracker.
9. Mommy has not made me wear my Christmas scarf.... Yet...
10. I don't just have visions of sugar plums, I have sweet dreams of Henry Helton.
11. I love to meow along with all the music Mommy has playing.
12. There is fire going on in the fireplace and it makes for a toasty place to nap.
13. I know there will be milk and cookies out one night soon. I hope Santa does not mind if I "test" the milk for him...
14. I know at least one of the boxes under the tree is for me... I sit on it the most.
15. There is a package from Germany. I know it has lots of tasty treats in it. Whether or not I will get any remains to be seen.

For Meezer Monday today, I am going to share another story of one who came before me… This time it is Judina, a tabby who lived with us when Mommy was a little girl. Mommy had three gold fishies named Winken, Blinken and Nod (from the child’s poem). One day, Winken disappeared. It upset Mommy. A bit later Blinken disappeared and eventually Nod. Mommy was never sure what happened to them; however, when she got older, Grandmama told her….

Grandmama found all three of them (one at a time) sucked dry under the dining room table. Apparently Judina liked her fishies very fresh! Grandmama said they looked flat, like Judina sucked the “juice” out of ‘em. Mommy has not has fishies since. That is too bad because I think I would likes them too!

1. He likes to brush me.

5. He is good at pulling string.

Since Thanksgiving is over and most of the leftovers have been eaten (not just by me, mind you), I thought I would tell you a rule about food left on a plate not watched by your (or any) beans...

If there are leftovers on a plate or if a plate is unattended and I get to it and steal a bite or three, I do not deserve to be yelled at for it. You are the one who was not guarding your food dish. It is not my fault that you left tempting goodies within the swipe of my lightening quick paw.

For Meezer Monday, I want to share with you a story of Thanksgiving past. I am know I am a bit late but bear with me, please.

A few years ago, I had a kitty brother named Boo Radley. Boo was a wild child. He was an ankle biter, a hisser and had an odd habit of not wanting to put his paws on linoleum.

So, it is Thanksgiving and we are all at Grandmama’s house. This is before Mommy and Daddy were married so it was just Mommy and my grandparents, me and that crazy Boo Radley. Thanksgiving went on as usual. There were all the traditional tid bits and tasty treats for me and Boo. Of course it was all very nice!

Grandmama has a thing about stripping the turkey clean before putting away leftovers. She did this as she was cleaning up and there was a stripped down turkey carcass ready for the trash. Silly Boo kept looking at that carcass and meowing his fool head off. In one of those moments where you expect to see a cartoon light bulb over her head, Grandmama had an idea. She put that whole turkey carcass on the floor (linoleum, Boo’s favorite). He looked at her, looked at the turkey, back at her, etc. This went on for a moment or two when Boo had a realization…. It was all his!!! He commenced to chewing, eating, growling and even stuck his funny little head inside the turkey! Mommy watched him for about 15 minutes and said he looked like Mr. Bean. I don’t know who that is but it made Mommy laugh and laugh.

Mommy told me that eventually Boo was done. Or all that sleepy turkey druggy stuff kicked in because he fell asleep with one paw draped over the turkey. That is when Mommy took it from him and wiped off his lightly greased paws and head. He got over his fear of the kitchen floor then too.

Boo died suddenly in 2003. Mommy misses the crazy boy. I tolerated him as best I could but he was just so undignified that it is hard for a regal Meezer like me to put up with his shenanigans.

Meezer rule 4

Yesterday another kitty snuck into my yard! My yard is MY territory and it is off limits unless you are an invited guest!

My rule for today is this:

It is okay to growl and hiss at other (uninvited) kitties in your territory. This is why beans call it a “hissy” fit. I know that because Mommy said so.

A bonus rule for today is it is okay to bite the hand that feeds you if they are tweaking your fanny too hard. Mommy says this is not true and that I am not supposed to give the bitey no matter what. Sometimes that is the only way I can communicate with her effectively though.

Head butts

I am the queen of the head butt. I give them all the time. The first one of the morning is when Mommy’s alarm goes off. That means it is time for her to get up and pet me! It also (usually) means that there will be fresh crunchies in the bowl. Mmmm, crunchies!

I don’t get another chance again until Mommy comes home. As soon as I hear the garage door open I dash for the door to see Mommy come in. I tell her about my day and she bends down and gives me lovins! Then we go up the stairs so Mommy can get out of her work clothes. After that we usually check the status on crunchies and then the head buttin begins again. I will sit and head butt on Mommy’s lap for as long as she will let me. She always gets tired of this long before I do. But that’s okay because then Daddy will be home and it is his turn for a little kitty lovin.

Hanging with Mommy

Here is a photo of me. I am hanging out on one of my favorite spots which is Mommy’s chair. If I position myself just right I take up most of the arm of the chair and part of Mommy’s lap. Mommy says I beach myself on her. I don’t even know what that means; however, I am in an optimum place for skritches and that is always an important thing! If I stay still Mommy will usually brush me too and that is very good. I love the way that wiry brush feels on my furs! When I have had enough, I just put a bitey on the brush and Mommy knows I am done. She is well trained that way.

Doesn’t Mommy’s eye look much better? She still says she is going as Fergie from the Black-Eyed Peas for Halloween. Since I don't know who that is, I really don't care unless Fergie has temptayshuns!!!

Meezer rule 1

I knocked a lot of stuff off of the dresser yesterday. It felt good. It made me feel alive… That is until Mommy got home and saw all her knick-knacks Scouty whacked…. Mommy collects mini enamel teapots and they make a nice noise when you smack them and the little tops of them go flying! Wheeeeee! Plus when I sit up there I am tall.

Mommy tells me I am a “floor cat” and that I am supposed to stay off of the counters and tables. Where is the fun in that I ask you? I much prefer being up on things even if it is against the rules.

Cause the meezer rule is this.... I am a meezer cat. It is my job!

It is raining here. Raining good and hard. Mommy says it is excellent weather for a nap... Silly Mommy, ANY weather is good for a nap!

I am bored. Bored, bored, bored. I just swatted my last mousie under the thing that gets hot and another under the box that makes things cold. I can’t push the button on the red thingee. No one is here to pull string for me. The sunny spot has moved to the wall and I can’t figure out how to climb onto it.

I really don’t have much to say today. It is raining in Nashville and Mommy told me that is good even thought I really don’t think so. I am not too keen on water unless it is in my bowl and has plenty of ice cubies floating in it for my drinking pleasure.

This photo is from Easter. It is of Mommy looking at me from the window at her parents’ home. My Grandmama and Grandpapa always scoot the chair next to the window for me so I can look outside and check for lizards (mmmmm, lizards) and watch the hummingbirdies. I like that bunches!

Speaking of the hummers, they are soooo quick and sound like they have little jet engines attached to them! Vrooooom! I think they are too fast for me and that I probably would not be able to catch one. Plus they are too small for a meal… Oops, maybe I should learn to think before I type…

Mommy is doing much better after her accident and follow-up time in front of the flashy thingee. She sends a big thank you to all of you for your purrs and head butts. She said aside from the head butts that actually connected with the eye, life is good even if her eye looks like something out of my litter box.

Today she finally remembered to leave the lap top open for me. I know I do not technically have a lap; however, I am getting pretty good at this typing thing with my paws. Occasionally I have to use my nose or tail, but that is another story.

I really do not have much to say, I just wanted to post so I could tell all my buddies out there “meow”… Especially the very handsome Henry Helton who really revs my engine and makes me purrrrrrr!!!

What is your favorite gift?
Tuna please... However, I also enjoy nibbling on the ribbons and bows. Don't tell Mommy, please.

What is your best memory of Christmas?
Climbing into the tree and chewing on an ornament. Mommy looked for the photo for me so I oould post it but she could not find it.

Depending on where you live, do you have a hot or cold Christmas?
We have had record heat and drought here in Nashville. Usually it is cold at Christmas. It's been so hot I forgot what cold feels like... Unless I sit on the air vent which makes Mommy laugh.

Would you prefer to try the opposite weather at least once?
No, I usually like the weather in Tennessee. Particularly during lizard season!

What do you prefer in a tree, fake or real?
Real. They smell nice and are easier to climb.

What is your favorite carol?
Mommy said Burnett... I don't even know what that means...

What is your favorite Christmas Dinner?
Do I even have to answer that?! I am sticking with Henry's answer.

Do you wear a Santa hat at Christmas?
I only wear a pretty Christmas collar. Hats and I do not get along.

I tried to climb into the fire place once and Mommy yelled at me. I haven't tried again since. I do not usually stay up late.

Here are some reasons I do not like football:

It makes mommy yell

When mommy jumps out of her chair I fall off of her lap.

I don’t like beer and that is what mommy drinks during games.

Daddy asks too many questions. Mommy says this is because where he grew up football is soccer. I don’t even know what soccer is and I really don’t think I care because it would probably make daddy yell and that is scary too.

The phone rings a lot. Usually it is mommy’s parents wanting to know if she saw what they saw on tv. I don’t like phones. Too loud.

There is no tuna fish involved. Mommy had something she called nachos but they were crunchy with cheese and something green and strong smelling on them. I only eat green grass when the mood hits me and I need to throw up.

Mommy said there are teams with kitty mascots but I am not sure I believe her. Would that be the San Antonio Siamese? Maybe then I could watch.

Does anyone know when the craziness ends? There was football on at the house Saturday, Sunday AND Monday. That was three days of torture.

Mommy says it’s all good cuz her team won last night. I guess that makes it a bit better. Maybe I will get temtayshuns for putting up with her silliness.

since i missed thursday thirteen this week i thought i would give you my five favorite friday activities

1. in the sunny spot
2. crunching on the science dietsleeping
3. knocking around the nip mouser
4. bunny kicking a stuffed animal or three
5. looking out the door (gotta keep an eye out for lizards)

i am glad it is friday because that means mommy and daddy will be home with me and there is a better chance of tuna and temtayshuns!! yummy!

attack!!

i was attacked. not by a vishus annymul but by frozen water. i have a medal i wear around my collar (yes, i am a prissy girl) and when mommy put fresh cubies in my water i had to go take a drink right away... well one thing lead to another some of the cubies got stucked on my medal!!

i looked up at mommy and then i shook my head really hard and a cubie flew off. there were still three more stuck to me. i had to walk with my front paws really far apart so the cubie would touch me as little as possible. at this point mommy started laughing at me. that hurt my feelings but i was more concerned about getting the cubie off my collar.

i shook my head hard again... nothing. mommy hollered for daddy at this point who came running down the stairs. i shook my head again and presto! no more cubie!! daddy was sorry he missed the show and laughed when mommy told him what happened.

humiliation aside, i got some temtayshuns for it. that makes for a happy ending.
